Samsung! £300 to repair but only 90 guarantee???

  • Thank you to the people who have mentioned my consumer rights. You see I think it seems very early on for this to have gone wrong on the machine. I did pay for a top of the range machine, but because I thought that paying for quality meant it would last longer. And or the service from the company would be good. My Dyson lasted for ten years. I have googled around a bit and this seems to be a common fault on this particular machine.
    I have read before about the sale of goods act. Does this mean I should contact AO ? What would I say? That I think this is too early for it to have broken?
    The symptoms are that on a couple of occasions it has paused in the middle of the wash for no reason.
    If I do not get any joy from the manufacturer or the retailer shall definitely get my local man to repair it as a point of principle.
    Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D

    Yes your consumer rights are with AO not Samsung. I'd contact them first but be prepared for them to say they won't help without any evidence.

    If they do, then below are your next steps.

    Why are Samsung not repairing or replacing the motor under the 10 year motor warranty also was there not a 5 year warranty promotion on that Maching when you bought it?

    Under SOGA, goods purchased must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. On the face of it your machine has fallen foul of the first of those. The legislation states that as it's been over 6 months since purchase the onus is on your, the consumer, to prove that the reason it isn't of satisfactory quality is inherent to manufacture rather than, say excess wear & tear or user fault/damage etc. You've already been informed of the fault and that your machine needs a new PCB, if you have this in writing then this, hopefully should go someways in satisfying this proof for you to demand a remedy from the retailer, ie, AO.
