To be eligible to join the Motability Scheme, you need to receive one of the following mobility allowances and you must have at least 12 months’ award length remaining. Please note that the Attendance Allowance cannot be used to lease a car through the Scheme.- Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
As of 12 April 2017, this allowance is £58.00 per week.
- Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
As of 10 April 2017, this allowance is £58.00 per week.
- War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
As of 12 April 2017, this allowance is £64.80 per week.
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
As of 12 April 2017, the mobility element of the allowance is £58.00 per week.

It looks like those getting WPMS are disadvantaged as they have to pay/give up £64.80 whereas others only pay/give up £58.
I don't suppose they get to keep the difference?0 -
If the weekly disability payment is more than the mobility payment, then of course you would get to keep the difference.unforeseen wrote: »It looks like those getting WPMS are disadvantaged as they have to pay/give up £64.80 whereas others only pay/give up £58.

Either the Motability Advance Payments are reduced from the DLA/PIP Advance Payments (by roughly £1k over the 3yr lease) or, if the weekly payments are less than £64.80 the War Pensioner gets the excess paid to him/her. It equals it out to ensure sure both DLA/PIP/AFIP customers pay the same as WPMS customers (and vice-versa).

Unless she is a War Disablement Pensioner in her own right, then sadly not. If she were a War Disablement Pensioner with mobility problems she may have claimed the War Pensioners Mobility Supplement as there is no maximum age it can be claimed at.
Sadly though, just on a War Widows Pension, she cannot.
If appropriate, she could get support/help to ensure she is getting all she is entitled to from such as the Veterans Welfare Service or the War Widows Association (sorry I cannot post links but google both organisations).
