Amount of motorway driving for DPF?
Options
I have a 2006 Citroen c5 with a 1.6 HDI engine. I work renovating rental flats. I usually make a point of taking it two junctions up the M4 on the way home from whichever flat, so that it regenerates the DPF.
At the moment I am working closer to home, so really only need the ten motorway miles once a fortnight. Is that adequate, or should I do more?
FTA: I do about 100 miles per week pottering around Reading.

What does the owners manual say.
My Citroen manual said 10 mins at 40mph if needed.0 -
You should be ok. The car will regenerate the DPF as you're driving round by injecting fuel into the exhaust which will then burn and heat the DPF to the required temperature.
It might be worth recognising when a regen is happening though as once it's started it's usually best to keep driving until it's finished.0 -

Thanks Richard. Yeah, mine says to do the same if the warning light comes on. I don't want to get anywhere near the point where the warning light comes on.0 -
I rarely do any motorway driving. My Audi is nearly 5 years old and only once had warning light come on when the fukcwitts at the dealer overfilled the oil during service. Drained the excess and took it for the Italian tune up."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
Ride hard or stay home :iloveyou:0 -
Regening is fine. It!!!8217;s when the DPF is full of ash that it gets expensive.0
