House buying - kids play in street

Another thing to check for, not sure if you can is: childminders!!!!
I used to live in a house where next door became a childminder.
As I recall she was allowed to take 2 in.
So, she had the 2 official ones, her 2, her sister's 2. 6!!!!!!!!
Small 2-bed house, garden 14'x25' edged by chicken wire fencing, as was mine, with a narrow access pathway between the two. In the summer, if I went outside at all, I'd have about 4 of them clinging onto the fence swaying back/forth trying to talk to me. Trying because the oldest was about 3. So 6 2-3 year olds
And I was sat in the garden trying to study on an OU course and for exams. I was trying to write computer programming code.
Annoying!!!!
Not sure if you CAN check for childminders, but if it's possible ... do it.0 -
Hi i would say dont buy it,a house we used to live in was beside one of those smalll electric sud staions and they used to kick the ball against it all the time, run in the garden to collect there ball trampling on flowers as they went.Hit the car constently and made loads of noise. If you asked them polietly to move you just got a mouthfull of abuse. We have four boys and i'm sorry yes they need there space and time to run about but my kids in my garden and not someone elses or on the park.Kids forget to be respectful when they are in a group and dont really no how to keep the noise down.We are in the process of moving at the moment and i am abit paranoid we would get stuck in the same situation again.wendy x0

OP - go for the other house and leave the Cul-de-sac one for a family with kids.
If you're doubting it before you've even moved in, you will regret it more come next summer.
I've got young kids, so it wouldn't bother me. There's only 5 kids in my street so it's really quiet. Mind you - we installed a large adventure playground set in the garden last year, so all the kids played in our garden most of the summer.:D At least they were getting plenty fresh air - and we're at the end of a row, so they were well away from the neighbours.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. It really depends on the area and on the location itself. But from personal experience I will never ever go for another house which has a communal area or area for anyone to congregate nearby. We had a nightmare with kids/teens in our last house but thats another story.0

I have 4 children of my own, but i have to say i would get seriously !!!!!! off if kids played ball near my car/windows etc.
Saying that, go back at dif times of teh day and check how many kids are there and how often.
We live in a lovely little road and i really appreciate the quiet..
My children don't play on the street, no need to!! thats what gardens are for.0 -
Would second (third? fourth?) the recommendation to view the area at different times and check out the kids. As I said, we have a little kids' playground near us, which is really nice and mainly attracts little ones. But I do appreciate teenagers (some of them anyway) are different - if a 5 year old keeps throwing balls at your car/house you can tell their mum/be scary and they'll stop but that's unlikely to work on a 15 year old who's 6 inches taller than you and has a gang of mates! We decided not to buy a very (suspiciously?) cheap house we viewed when we met the neighbours' two charming teenage lads, aged about 16 years+ and their pit bull!0

I had to convert my garden fence into gates and for a driveway to put the car away as the little bratz kept playing football and cycling around my new car, lol.
Im going to get one of those Chav scarers, that makes an annoying buzzing noise to keep them away! :beer:0 -
"THE KID HATER" LOL
P.S
I have two kids0 -
I live in one of two adjacent cul-de-sacs, both with an oval green area at the top end. One year we were getting several lads from the next road playing ball games on "our" green (which is right outside our front window). They were also going round and round the perimeter on noisy home-made go-carts.
When I eventually went out and asked them why they weren't playing outside their own house, they said "dad won't let us".
Thanks dad  .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

8 years ago I bought a house which backed onto a park. Perfect for me as I could see my children playing from the living room. As mine got older they stopped playing in the park and unruly rowdy kids moved in house next door but one. I decided to move as they were getting more and more unsocial. They were still at junior school but I figured they woud get worse so thought I would move now. Although it did back onto a park, never had any problems even though the older ones congregated when it get dark. I heard rumours of drugs and alcohol but didn`t see any signs of it.
There was a couple on the other side 2 doors away who were possibly early 60`s, they would terrorise the kids for skate boarding down the alley and generally having fun. The kids in turn did aggrevate the couple and they had the police around on many occasions. Actually, once a policewoman did knock on my door to ask if I had problems and I did say no and that the couple were foolish in buying a house backing onto a park.
If I were you, I really wouldn`t buy the house.0
