Public/ product liability insurance

Hi

My builder did a botched job of my roof which has caused cracks to my walls. I'm looking to claim on his insurance (he accepts fault and have me his insurance details to make a claim).

Can anyone advise me as to what defines a product? Obviously it when a boiler is fitted, but can it also mean a product that had been made specifically for a customer? I mean if ready made supermarket meal is covered, surely something made by a builder is also covered!

Also does anyone know if multiple claims can be made on a £10m public/product liability insurance policy, or it is restricted to just one?

Many thanks

He gave you his insurance details so you could make a claim?

You complain to him. He admits he is at fault. He has to rectify the fault or pay for someone else to do so. If this requires a claim on his insurance then he is the one who makes the claim.

Yes thats right he gave me his insurance details. I guess a bit like after a car accident.

Anyway, does anyone have any idea what a product is defined as under a product liability insurance policy?

Is there a limit on the number of claims that can be made?

I think you have missed my point. You don't make a claim for this. He is obliged to rectify his poor work, either personally or by paying for someone else to do it. If he wishes to pay for that by claiming on his insurance that is up to him, and he makes the claim.
