Possible LBCCC with no parking fine previously

Hi all,
I have read through the NEWBIES sticky thread and can!!!8217;t find an answer to my question. If this has been posted many time before please forgive me and point me in the right direction.
A number of weeks ago I received a debt collection letter from a local debt company regarding an NCP parking fine. I never previously received any notice of a parking fine, either on my windscreen or in the post.
My drivers license was still registered to my mother in laws, however she had received no letters for me either.
I have now received a letter from Gladstones solicitors stating NCP May instruct them to proceed with Cc action if I do not pay the £160 within 14 days.
I have had no com at so far with NCP or any debt collector.
My concern is that I have no idea of the evidence NCP hold against me, having never received an initial parking notice.
How should I proceed? Do I have a defence if his goes to county court? I am happy to do as much research as possible to fight if this is possible however if there is no defence I can bring I would rather settle now before the fine is increased by court costs.
Help much appreciated!
MM

The address on your Driving Licence is of no interest - although there is I believe a possibility of a £1000 fine if it's wrong.
The address that has been used is the address of the Registered Keeper of the car as shown on the vehicle's V5c document.
Is that address correct?0 -
Yes that address is indeed correct and car is registered to my current home.
I wasn!!!8217;t sure if drivers license address was used in these situations. I have changed that now also to avoid any mor fines!0 -
In this context your driver's licence address is irrelevant. It is that which is shown on the vehicle's V5C (logbook). But you'd better inform the DVLA of your change of address, as not updating your licence carries a potential fine of £1,000. You need to send two separate notifications - one for the licence, one for the V5C.My drivers license was still registered to my mother in laws, however she had received no letters for me either.
Turning to the letter from Gladstones - does it tell you to pay Debt Recovery Plus? Does it have a reference number 3xxxx or 4xxxx?
Do NCP regularly sue motorists over parking charges?

I updated the registered keeper last year - it is a notability vehicle as I have Cystic Fibrosis and it!!!8217;s is definitely registered to my current address and has been since we moved last year, so from what!!!8217;s been said there!!!8217;s no reason the ticket should not have been sent here.
The letter makes no reference to DRP and ask me to call Gladstones to make payment0 -
Have you move home since the alleged parking incident?Minniemoo0104 wrote: »Yes that address is indeed correct and car is registered to my current home.
In other words, was the V5c address at the time of the event a different address?0 -
No I moved in June 2017 and updated motability at that time0

Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving - you need to edit your OP to remove details of who was driving0

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences.
Parking Eye, Smart and a smaller company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (who take hundreds of these cases to court, and nearly always lose), who have also been reported to the regulatory authority.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas.
