Help travelling via London

Hi I am travelling from Norwich to Brighton. The route I have seen on the trainline website is to get the train from Norwich to Stratford (London), then the Tube from Stratford (London) to London Bridge (I am assuming when I first get to Stratford the train won't stop at the underground or will it)?

I then need to get from Stratford (London) to London Bridge via the Tube.

Then, from London Bridge to Brighton. But I am not sure if they mean the London Bridge underground tube or is it just another train?

Basically, what I'm asking is will the trains stop at the underground tube or somewhere else?
Also, how much should I put on my oyster card (which I will order online) for this journey and a return journey please? Thanks.

Get this moved to the Public Transport board for answers on the transport specifics. But whatever you do, don't book on The Trainline, which is always more expensive than alternatives.

You have begun by finding an on-line business (Trainline) that is notorious for excessive fees and poor customer service, and continued by asking for help in the wrong place, since this forum is about international travel. May I suggest that you are likely to do better in the real world rather than the internet. Try visiting the railway station in Norwich where I am sure you will be given all the information you need. One key detail: your rail ticket from Norwich to Brighton will include the journey by underground, so no need to order a separate Oyster card for this journey.

And to answer your question: both Stratford and London Bridge are stations with different platforms for Underground and Main line trains, linked by walkways and escalators. Most passengers simply walk between them, but special assistance is available for those who require it.

if you have a contactless card you can use that and get the same charges as if you were using an oyster card

Both Stratford station {London} and London Bridge station are joint mainline and underground ones so you arrive at Stratford mainline arrival then follow the signs to the underground section within the station. Catch the underground service to London Bridge station,at that underground station follow the signs to the mainline section then using the travel on to Brighton.

Their Wikipedia articles confirm that both are combined Network Rail and London Underground stations:

As an additional confirmation, the stations are marked with the old British Rail logo on the London Underground map:

OK: what is the cheapest way to travel from Lancaster to London (without specifying the countries of origin and destination).

There are around twenty three Lancasters, so it could get a bit complicated. :p:)

Except a cross London ticket includes the transfer by underground as part of the fare.
  • Alternative route is Norwich -> Cambridge -> Brighton
Although this is a dearer route, so not very MSE.
