Isn’t the correct answer. Are you suggesting he comes back to six points and a £500 fine for failing to nominate the driver?

The OP could try contacting the relevant safety camera partnership and explaining the situation.

    Best of luck with that.

But of course the OP should have someone monitoring and dealing with all correspondence they might receive while they are away.

If you passed a speeding van, you must really have been going for it!

Who can deal with the 172 request other than a name person or a company representative?

Assuming he gets one of course, a friend or relative, just put in a note explaining the situation saying you're responding on their behalf.

    It will not be accepted.

The S172 response is used in evidence to prove who was driving. (Without it there can be no successful prosecution for speeding). A notice addressed to WobblyA must be completed and signed by WobblyA. Somebody else replying saying WobblyA was driving cannot be used in evidence and so will not be accepted.

Friend or relative visits the house and finds the NIP
They scan the NIP and email to OP
OP prints, completes and signs the NIP, scans and emails back
Friend/relative prints and posts back to the address on the NIP

Any problems with doing that? (I'd imagine returning the photocard licence might be a problem, but OP could leave that at home just in case ... unless they need it whilst away).

The licence shouldn't be a problem.

The friend or relative should wait until the end of the 28-day period before replying. If a COFP or course offer then arrives, the OP should be home from Oz before a reply is needed.

I imagine not. But I'd check that the SCP will accept a document that does not, effectively contain a "wet" signature. Whilst I' was doing that I'd try my Plan A..

He has no need to worry about that. He will have plenty of time to accept any offer of a course or fixed penalty (assuming he qualifies for one) when he will need to submit his licence.

Does OP says where he/she was possibly nabbed on camera? If it was in Scotland then there won't be any offer of a course.
