washing machine issue

I have a Ariston Margherita 2000 washing machine and it has just failed on a wash. This has happened before so I have cleaned the filter- a few bits of copper from trimming electric cables came out (Electrician in the house) and the wash started again.

I've just gone back to check and it has frozen again, I've rechecked the filter (a tiny piece of copper has come out) but I cant get it to start again, it just clicks around to the drain symbol and stays there making a whirring noise.

Any ideas on what to try/do next?

Can you remove the hose that feeds the pump, sounds like there may be something jamming the pump ( you might have to put something under the washer to catch the water )

No joy. It has gone from bad to worse. I have ordered a new machine, coming tomorrow, and I started to disconnect this one and the hot water valve is broken so I now have a plumber coming on Monday to sort it all out for me as I am not capable. Zero man points awarded today. Very depressing and expensive.

On a plus the current machine has lasted 15 years and never missed a beat so fairs fair.

Gone for a 9kg drum on the new one so can get the bedding done easier.

Hot water valve is no longer required. Is the electrician in the house not capable enough to cap the hot water pipe? A simple job that that literally takes a minute.
  • Must be clogged all the way from the hose to the filter and it might be that even if the filter is already clean somewhere in the hose line is still clogged.
  • Clogged or motor needs to reset. Had the same problem before and dh tried to fix clean the filter but it was still not working. Phoned a tech and motor reset fixed the issue.
