Car Accident - What can you claim for?

Hello to you all,

I was recently involved in a car accident (not my fault). The 3rd party has now settled on a price for my car (which they had written off). The whole process was relatively quick (around 1 month) but my question is as follows - apart from the car am I entitled to claim anything else from the 3rd party insurance company? I am not experienced with this type of thing (thankfully).

It was a petrol tanker that drove into me. Injury-wise my neck has not been the same since - a lot of discomfort and occasional pain but thankfully nothing more than that. I also missed 4 days of work due to the accident and to be honest I have not slept properly since the accident and as well as that when I now see a huge lorry or petrol tanker anywhere near me I do get nervous.

Please do understand I am not seeking to fabricate a story here - everything I have wrote above is the truth but I am just wondering if I am 'entitled' to claim for anything else as the money would help me recoup some of the cost incurred by me purchasing a new car (the payout is some £4,000 less than the car I purchased).

Apologies for the long message but I thought I'd include as much detail as possible.

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer

As soon as you or the other party register the accident, full details go on the shared database that insurance companies talk about when you take out the policy. I had a call from a claims company 2 days after an accident. They phrased it like theyd been appointed by my insurance company (without exactly saying that). I was astute enough to question them further and they were nothing to do with my insurance company and were just ambulance chasers. I was so annoyed as I dont think your phone number should be put on that database, but it was. It wasnt just a coincidental !!!8216;have you been in an accident!!!8217; type call either. They knew the date, time, location, registrations - everything!
