Slight damage to newly installed bifolds

Morning folks

I had a set of 4M Sapa bifold doors installed yesterday in our new extension and on the whole they look great. I do however have a couple of niggles which I am unsure whether I should mention or not.

On the outside of the doors I have noticed a couple of chips/ small scratches in the finish. I’m a little annoyed by this but I guess installing something this big must be hard without any marks being caused (although they weren’t fully covered in sticky film when they were taken off the van)

The glass was left somewhat grubby and on cleaning it I’ve found a scratch/chip on the inside at eye level. I’m guessing this would necessitate replacing that pane. Guessing the chips on the paint would have to be touched in.

What is the best course of action? Our builder is superb- the doors were supplied and fitted by a local window firm. I haven’t paid for them yet…..

Many thanks

I would want the glass replaced ,no reason why the frame could not be repaired to give a good result. If you paid direct for the doors I think it will be up to you to contact the installer about your concerns

When we had all new windows, including bifolds, we had to have a few sealed units replaced because of scratched or dirty glass. The window company didn't bat an eyelid, I'm sure its common & sealed units are cheap.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

    Thanks folks

Ill definitely raise it with the window company- don't think my OCD will let me ignore any scratches on the glass. Ill properly clean them first as still a bit grubby. Company are due back to add a couple of bits of trim anyway.
  • Just as well from the pov of future owners of your house too.

I do get annoyed at various little "bits and bobs" of poor workmanship that previous owner let the workmen get away with when they installed the doubleglazing - as I certainly wouldn't have accepted it. But I've got no choice put to up with the faults now that I wasnt the owner that had them put in and it was done some years before I bought the house.
