So aswell as that he gibes me £652 but still leaves him
    ...... £543.50!!!!!
He doesnt really go out (one every 3 months?) Doesnt drink except on those nights, doesnt buy much clothes but says he doesnt know where this money goes
  • So we sat down last night and worked after ALL the bills his and mine we should have around £1200 (iv overestimated a few things slightly or rounded up)
I think when he seen that its given him the kick he needs.

Very vague idea that we are going to work with this month -
    Dh £25pw, me £25pw, kids £25pw = 300pm
    Food shopping £300pm
    Xmas & bday savings 100pm
    Entertainment - 100pm
Kids extras - dancing, nursery snack, toddlers 50pm
    Clothes - 50pm
This leaves 300pm to be saved or cc repayments. We need to look at them all and decide whixh is the most important atm.
I also dont plan to spend all that 25pw and either save it up for some nights iut etc iv planned or put it towards cc also. If OH sticks to plan (and me) then i actually think were not in to bad a place as id first imagined.
  • Als9 when i say all bills it includes what we are paying towards cc so anything else would be extra. I guess some months we could and if its a busy month just make sure we are paying what we already do
  • I know this will sound silly but i think iv had a little breakthrough... im paid tomorrow and i still have £6.56 in my account. This DOES NOT happen. The old me would have seen that i had that left and pretty much decided any small thing i could have bought probably a little treat for the kids lunch. Today and yesterday i spent NOTHING! I made a slow cooker meal out of random leftovers and everyone said it was good. This is not me!

Im feeling really happy that something seems to have changed. Hoping it stays!!

I got a message from nursery saying that the children have world book day on thurs.... 2 days notice! Old me might go out and get craft supplies and make some great (ish) costume or go and get something. Nope im not doing it im raiding there fancy dress box there must be something in there bookish.
  • It's not silly, it's a change in attitude towards money. I have budgets for everything and I hate actually spending the money even when I have budgeted for it!

And well done on not making a costume but finding something you have already got. My son and daughter won't be dressing up for nursery on Thursday. For one, my son is very particular about what he wears and two I just can't be bothered. They won't know what is going on!
  • Yeh they wont have a clue anyway! Weve only had 1 before and i bought him a dragon outfit to be zog and when i went to pick him up hed taken it off after 10 mins! Luckily they dress up alot at home but still waste of money.

Iv never had budgets for everything before its always been £200 for the month or something like that and i always find theres nothing actually left in it for me. Think this will at least give me the option to get myself something but might find i prefer saving it
  • Payday today! Got £25 extra than my estimate so have put £125 towards my credit card.
What do people think pay off cc or get an emergency fund. I dont have and find thats what makes me use the cc?
Had a powercut this morning and snows bad so day in for us, hopefully means a NSD!
  • That's good on the extra money. I think its best to have an emergency fund so you don't have to use the CC again. What I did with any extra was split it 50/50 between paying off debts and saving it. That way I feel like I am paying some off the debts but I am also saving a bit in case of emergency.

We have a lot of snow here as well, both schools closed and I really don't fancy the drive to work via country lanes so definite snow day here. Will be building snow men in the garden, watching movies and baking today. I will also attempt a little bit of work today from home and may even do some more listing of items for sale!

    Enjoy your snow day!
  • That sounds good mumof4 i think thats what il do maybe start regularly £50pm or so and then i can go into it if need be. Im just sick of going into money when i never should have had to, just me being silly.

Today is pretty bad here (scotland)the snow is thick and wind is really bad my little one almost blew away (she is only about 20lbs)
Nursery was called off and my kids have been acting like maniacs i was sooi close to packing them all in the car and heading to softplay to save my sanity but decided how can i moan about money and the first day i take them to softplay where il spend £20 easily.
I then toyed with the idea of going to sainsburys cafe to get them out the house.

Instead we have took out the dress up box, played with the mouldable sand stuff, watched a film and played in the snow. Whilst out there we found dinosaurs in the sandpit and they were frozen solid so we took the tray inside and theyve spent 30 mins whacking them trying to get them out.
Im exhausted hope nursery is on tomo!
