Endsleigh Insurance WARNING!

I wasn't sure where else online to share this, so I decided to post here.

This is a warning about Endsleigh insurance.

I just bought a buildings insurance policy, clicking through to their website from Money Supermarket. Whilst on the Endsleigh website I was shown a policy summary that I needed to agree to before continuing to pay. This stated the following:

Excess information:
Subsidence £1,000
Escape of water £250
All other claims £100

I specifically noticed this because I was comparing Endsleigh to another insurer which had a £300 escape of water excess and I chose Endsleigh because this excess was slightly cheaper and they had good ratings (how it has good ratings I do not know).

Anyway, I paid by card, I was told to set up an online account, clicked to open and view my home insurance policy, which stated:

Buildings:
You are responsible for paying the first £100 excess...
For claims for escape of water ... you are responsible for paying an additional £200 on top of your standard policy excess.

The escape of water excess had gone up from £250 to £300. :mad:

I also noticed that if you cancel during their cooling off period, even before the policy starts, they charge you a £30 admin fee.

So I rang up about this and the woman didn't seem to believe me. She sounded like she was trying to get rid of me, saying she couldn't see what my screen showed so she couldn't prove it, but escape of water would have a £300 excess. Eventually, when I said I wanted to complain, she offered to cancel the policy and refund me fully, with no admin fees. Which I asked her to do.

I'm posting this here because i hate how much insurance companies try to scam people and get out of ever paying out a penny. I don't see why Endsleigh should get away with doing this.

Anyway, my warning is to stay away from Endsleigh!!
