Iresa refund

I'm currently about £400 in credit with iresa . My current tariff ends mid march, I've decided to stay with iresa for 2018 and signed up to a new fixed tariff online till march 2019 .
Two questions
1 do you think I should call them to try to get a refund for the overpayments?

2 I've decided to ditch my economy 7 tariff for next year, due to very little overnight use and a lot higher standing charge daily .
So I've been giving them 2 readings for the leccy, do you think dropping the e7 will run smoothly on change over day

    1. Good luck with that one. My refund is just going through after ombudsman intervention.

    2. With Iresa's level of incompetence about 50/50, again good luck.

Currently yes as they are cheap and now my credit is being refunded I feel more confident that I am in control and can, if I wish, move away without having to wait months for a refund.

    1. If you contact them, they should arrange for a reduction in monthly payment

    2. You will need to arrange a meter change.

In most regions, the day rate on E7 is less than the single rate option, and of course the night rate on E7 is significantly less.
The standing charge is more with an E7 meter, but if that is the deciding factor, I suspect Iresa are not the cheapest option for you in any event
Possibly a nil standing charge tarriff would suit you better

    Consult a comparison site
Don't forget to adjust down your annual usage so you don't end up overpaying by £400 again.

    1. Easier said than done.

    2. Apparently Iresa do combine E7 readings for single tariff.

I am also in far too much credit with Iresa and they have been ignoring my emails requesting a review. I have now emailed them as a "complaint". I'm not expecting a response so, I think, my next stop is the Ombudsman.

I've never had to deal with the omdudsman before, is it a relatively simple process?

My contract with Iresa is ending in April and I definitely won't be staying with them. They are hopeless and I don't want to build up an even bigger credit with them.

Edit: Having read the other Iresa thread, it seems switching away from them is easier said than done!

The ombudsman took on my refund case without actually having raised a "complaint" as they considered my repeated weekly nags sufficient effort to try to resolve the request. Quite straightforward raising an ombudsman case and mine took less than 3 weeks to resolve - just waiting for the refund shown on the Iresa payments page to hit my account.
