Sainsbury's Credit Card Application is SLOW!

  • Update on this, the card finally arrived today, 23 days after the initial application which is frankly pathetic.

The day after my first post on this thread I decided to apply for a Santander balance transfer card too (I don't plan on applying for anything else in the forseeable future so an extra search on my credit file doesn't bother me), that too went to underwriting but they managed to get the card to me within 7 days of my application and on top of that they kept me informed by email and text. The only communications I received from Sainsburys were by post.
  • I have applied today with online signature and the form online said (i cannot remember the correct wording only sense)

"the application has been successful. We will send you the card in ... days and afterwards the pin."

Although it is very important to me how many days, I cannot remember which number or if it was several or whatever.

Does the message differ to from what you got? Or will I also have to fill in further forms via post?

    Thanks in advance x

I was very pleased with Lloyds credit card services. They allowed me to swap my card in August for one with 0% for 24 months on purchases and balance transfer fees of 3%. However I found out i was able to apply for a 2nd card with them after 60 days. I applied for one with 20 months on balance transfer with no fee if bt done within 90 days.

I now use one card for purchases and the other one for balance transfer and is not costing me anything in interest or fees. Also application process was quick and easy and was agreed straight away.

If you think Sainsburys are slow...

24th September applied for a 0% HSBC card.
14th October finally get an email stating that I'm approved and requiring me to provide a digital signature for the card.
It's now 24th October - a whole month since applying and still no card!
Maybe it will be lying on the doormat when I get home but I'm not holding my breath.

  • Ive received the pin of sainsbury card by post but nothing else!

As thry often dont note my address correctly i am extremely worried if someone else got the details?

Because i still do not have any kind of information. Not via email not post. Only a pin which can be easily re-requested in case another person got my details.

Because i should have got an email at least ????

I requested a BT with application which still didnt happen but i got the pin.

How can i find out when or if there is a balance transfer :-( need it urgent.
And im also worried becase no information except last 4 digits of card.

Why is there no online system?

My pin arrived a couple of days before my card. I think they post them out separately to make it harder for someone to intercept both card and pin. Maybe as it's now the weekend you'll get your card on Monday or Tuesday next week.

I applied on Thursday night and was accepted in about 20 seconds. I received my card this morning and I've already done a balance transfer. I'd call them.

Good thinking. I just gave them a ring and was told that everything's completed and "you should receive something in the post by the end of this week".

Found out what my credit limit is going to be and it's not overly generous (£4000) but not too shabby considering I have two other high limit cards on my credit files. I'll update this post when it arrives to let you all know exactly how long it took from applying to arrival.

Update: card arrived yesterday. So from application to arrival the process took 34 days - not by any means quick!
