    You could always ask the seller to write you a cheque if he can't process a refund through PayPal or some other means.

    He logs into Paypal, finds the payment, clicks on it, clicks Refund This Payment, enters the amount to refund.

    Really couldn't be simpler.
  • Yep, tell him in clear instructions what to do.

    If he doesn't then you know he is dishonest. But still not a lot you can do, except refuse the item and ask for a full refund. You will probably still lose £5 in postage though.

    It might just be one of those situation where you learn to not repeat the mistake. Lessons that cost you money (and it isn't a fortune but still hurts) tend to be of permanent effect.
