Royal Mail Redirect

Just two quick queries, as when I rang Royal Mail as well as checked their website I struggled to get a proper answer:
-When I redirect my post (I've paid for 3 months worth) will they notify companies that I have moved i.e. I forgot about a John Lewis address change and had it redirected- will they update their files?
-I will ideally be moving into my permanent accommodation in April- Instead of my post going A to B, can I change the redirection so it is A to C, without it going to B?
Hope that makes sense- have Friday brain!

(a) No, it's up to you to figure out who needs told.
(b) Yes, you can update the forwarding address.0 -
Royal Mail just redirect mail, with your name it, to your new address. I'll be doing 12 months when I move just to be sure I've changed everything (apart from the obvious).0

They don't tell anybody anything, they just bundle it up and send it to your new address, so keep a note of any letters that have been redirected and notify the senders yourself. I think it's worth paying for 12 months, to catch things where you might only be contacted once a year.0

Yes they can notify companies that you have moved, but only of you tick the box on your application that allows them to do this:
We can also pass the contact details (address, email and telephone number) of everyone whose mail is being redirected to organisations that already know them so they can update their records. There!!!8217;s no extra cost for this.
Although the service is offered, I don't think there is any way of finding out which companies they do/don't provide the information to - so still best to advise everybody regardless.0 -

I’m in this position so have done some research.
You have to cancel the original redirection and start a new one, you can’t amend the original one. If you have any time left over you can’t get a refund:(0 -
