How long before I can switch a new bank account?

Hi, I’m wanting to start taking advantage of the switching offers but don’t want to loose the benefits of my current bank account. I want to open a new bank account with someone and then start using the new account to take advantage of the switching offers. Does anyone know how long the new bank account needs to be open before I can take advantage of the switching offers? Thanks.

I opened an account with Barclays about 2 weeks ago. I began the switch to Halifax on Wednesday and got the £125 from Halifax today! :beer:0
