Last month rent?

So the lease is about to come to an end on 30th of April. We are paying every 29th and had 1.5 deposit and month in advance.
Does that mean that if we give notice by 28th of March we don't need to pay on 29th ? Or we have to pay normally and then the rent got returned with the deposit. We rent from agency. The deposit is in a protected scheme.

Usually you pay rent in advance so the rent paid 29th March would cover you to 28th April, assuming rent is paid monthly. What was the exact start date of your tenancy? Is the fixed term ending 30th April or do you have a periodic tenancy?

Yes, you have to pay rent for the final month. The deposit is for damages, and is returned after you move out. As its protected, if the LL's play games you can get the protection scheme to arbitrate.

Check your tenancy but normally you need to give 1 months notice, so if you gave notice on the 28th March the tenancy would end after the 28th April, remember you can give more than 1 months notice. You will be liable for rent and bills until the end of the tenancy so yes you will still need to pay on the 29th March as this will cover from 29th March till 28th of April.

Are you wanting to leave on Apr 30th? if so, then no notice is required

Is a 1 year fixed term ending on 30th of April. We had one more before that starting on 31st of November 2016.
Now when I read you post I feel a bit stupid. Think you are right. The rent paid on 29th of March is actually for April. They will give us back the deposit of a rent and a half.
Stupid me. Is all because we are buying house and probbly we have to pay one to two months of rent and mortgage witch is not ideal but... what can you do...

It's unclear if your contract is until the 30th, with you paying the rent on the 29th to ensure the cleared funds reach the agent on time or not.

Assuming you have your tenancy until 11.59pm on the 30th then you have already paid your rent, on 29th March, up to and including this date, so you do not pay on 29th April.

You leave on/before the end date (usually dictated by when the agent can do the booking out inspection which can be annoying) .... you need to get this arranged to your satisfaction asap.

Leave on/before the 30th and they only hold your deposit at that point.
