    Instead of posting unhelpful answers just to try and make yourself sound condescending. I have asked if anyone could offer any advice to help me out. Simply highlighting what I have already said is not helpful. If you read my second comment;

    Would I have any right asking for Halfords to provide CCTV footage of my car?

    And where is that going to get you? If it shows them damaging your car they are unlikely to supply it.

    Given you say a few weeks ago in all likelihood the footage has gone.
  • Under the law they have to provide it as it contains images that can be used to identify me. If not the Information Commissioners Office can enforce this. The council who also have CCTV nearby can supply footage under the Freedom of information Act

    That can’t enforce them to supply images they no longer have.
  • The council will have the footage. And if Halfords have deleted it before their retention expiry date which should be stated in their policy they can be prosecuted

    What is their retention period and how many weeks ago was the damage?

    I still don’t see how getting footage of you is going to help.

    CCTV isn't going to help. They'll probably have wide angle cameras covering large areas; your car will be tiny on the screen and there's no chance of making out anything useful

    What's the council got to do with it ?? Surely you're asking for Halfords CCTV of the (alleged) event occuring ?

    And how have you suddenly gone from wanting them to repair the damage the (allegedly) caused to your car to threats of prosecution over their CCTV policy :rotfl:

    Unless they have hi-def CCTV in their workshop area, then anything they do have is likely to be useless. Most CCTV is hopeless for any detailed images (and it's arguably whether they would have to supply them anyway).

    Your case would come down to your word against theirs, together with a report from a bodywork specialist detailing what the damage is, the likely cause, the cost to fix it and (if they can say) an opinion on how old the damage is.

    It is a weak case, but all you can realistically do is issue an LBA and hope they decide to settle with you.

    If it does go to court, you are not guaranteed to win by any means.

    I used halfords once and never again.

    I took my new car in with 4 michelin tyres, 2 hours later i got it back with zero michelin tyres and 4 kumo ones.

    They replaced the wind screen wiper blade for me.

    Denied all knowledge of it even though i showed images and inventory of my car the same day coming from the dealership.
