Withdrawing cash from 0% for 30 months MBNA ccard:

Hi all,

I have a quick question: on withdrawing cash from 0% for 30 months MBNA credit card:

can it be done to ensure it is classed as a standard purchase (qualifying for 0% interest promotional period) and not cash advance?

and if it can be done, how to do it in the cheapest and most efficient way?

I can accept even more "exotic" suggestions like invoicing myself/my friend with paypal etc.

Big thanks for any suggestions,

THE NOX

  • No. Because it's a cash advance. Not a purchase.....
  • The best way of getting cash is if they allow money transfers on the 30 month deal. Often MBNA allow both BTs and MTs, though the fee might be a bit higher for a MT. You then do a MT to your current account and pull out the cash.

Is there any other (aka: cheaper) way apart from Money Transfer? MBNA charges 4% for that.

a friend invoicing me with Paypal?

or some other more unusual services/ideas?

I know a girl who offers exotic services, but I'm pretty sure she doesn't take credit cards.

You can keep asking the same question in a different way. The answer is still no.

All my paypal transactions are purchases with my credit card and do not show up as cash advances but I know there are some that do and they have appeared on this site before.

I once got a pre paid debit card for a BT deal which I used to pay my wife via PayPal but I note from the fees page it states:
"Free when funded by the sender’s PayPal balance, bank account or debit card. If you use a credit card to send money, a fee of 3.4% + 20p applies."

Whether MBNA charge anything I wouldn't know but try a small payment first and see what happens.
  • How much cash are you looking to obtain? If it's a relatively small amount you may be able to do the following. If you have friends/colleagues who tend to pay cash for everything then when they fill up their car you go with them and pay by CC, they then give you cash. Repeat for big supermarket shop for someone else. Not very scientific but depending the circumstances could be a workaround.

Only do the above if they pay you the cash immediately and avoid complex purchases where there may be complications with refunds at a later date.

Don't be so sure of yourself. It can be done but you need 2 cards with offers on them.

It is feasible by breaking the T&C. Have MBNA and another CC with zero balance. BT onto the MBNA card which will mean a positive balance on the other and then phone them up and ask to treansfer the surplus to your bank.
