Employment pre-screening credit check

Hi Guys,

I hope you're well.

I was hoping to get some advice on what a bank or accountancy can see on an individuals credit file when screening for a potential job offer.

I may have some issues with late payments to United Utilities on a current issue i'm curently trying to resolve.

I'm very concerned that if UU register a late payment for outstanding bills this could affect my future job prospects and credit score.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

  • It depends on the job and what they are looking for. Generally they are only concerned with CCJs and fraud markers.

A late payment will appear on your credit file (not the fictional score). Anyone who is able to view it will take their own view on it.

It would be worth trying to resolve the issue before it hits your files.
  • In financial workplaces it includes defaults as well, not just CCJs. The way look at it is how can you advise people on financial matters if you cannot manage your own? I also know this for even working for energy supplies marks on credit file like defaults and outstanding debt = no job. If it!!!8217;s arrears which it sounds like it is rather than defaults or ccjs I think you should be fine.

They will usually be able to see them - but may be ok depending on their requirements.

I'd suggest not quitting your old job until all these checks are done, okay'd and any contract is signed.
