Donor Account - actually switching

Hi,
I managed to sign my husband and myself up for individual Halifax Reward Current Accounts years ago in addition to our main account with Santander. I have been thinking of switching these to other accounts simply for the rewards for ages and right now HSBC looks good. I have read that most people find this really easy and seem to be doing it to earn loads just by collecting the rewards, which would be my only aim too.
What I'm worried about is the ease of submitting the signing up evidence (proof of ID and address) and closing the old account? How much can be done strictly online and how much do I physically need to take my self to the bank(s) concerned to submit? Does it depend on the bank?
Thanks,

Go for it, it is easy. I've opened 4 accounts in the past month all totally online, no physical proof needed. I've even gone from no account, through open 1 account, open 2nd account and switch, to receiving £125 reward, all within 6 working days! So long as the banks are signed up for the switching service, they take care of all the transfers and closures.
If you have a history with previous banks, electoral role, no CCJ etc, it seems to be easy to open accounts.0 -
I forgot to mention that I am an American and I do think that makes a difference as I still have to pay taxes in the USA.0
