PPS 'parking charge notice' issued

Hello! Newbie here. I've read the Newbie thread (tried to...) and am finding this a lot of information to take in at one go, as it seems this is a very complex area to find oneself in. I was hoping that someone kind and experienced on here might suggest what course of action (if any) to take with my situation.
Last week our family car was parked in a Premier Parking Solutions car park, close to a railway station. A valid ticket was bought and displayed - however, it must have flipped over as the door was closed. :-(
This car park is apparently locally notorious for issuing fines for all sorts of trumped-up reasons (for instance, they never clear accumulated mud from certain areas of the car park but will happily charge you for being over the 'marked bays' despite the fact that they're completely obscured). Anyway, when the driver returned to the car they found a nice red PCN on the windscreen.
We have the ticket. Should we be sending a photocopy of the ticket along with a copy of the PCN to the head office and showing that we paid it? We wouldn't admit that it presumably flipped over shortly after being displayed, and we wouldn't name the driver. Or should we wait (and how long for??) for them to contact the keeper, or to appeal (??) or to send this information later? I've read some of the Newbies thread, as I say, but the amount of variables and acronyms and time delays is pretty confusing.
The company, Premier Parking Solutions, is based in Newton Abbott and they are IPC members. We have a little under a week to the nominal 14 day deadline and we're wondering if it is just less stress all round to pay the bloody 'discounted' charge.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences.
Parking Eye, Smart and a smaller company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (who take hundreds of these cases to court, and nearly always lose), who have also been reported to the regulatory authority.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
There is too much in the newbies faq to take in at one reading.
Go through it again (and again!) taking time to understand the game you are now caught up in.
Throughout here you are advised never to reveal who was driving.
You need to edit your OP to remove details of who was driving
The ppcs monitor this forum and can use your posts against you0 -
Ok thanks! I thought I'd been careful in my post not to give specific details but I will make it more neutral.0

So many questions!
None of it matters, you are overthinking the timelines and there are no variables with IPC ones.
Appeal, not saying who was driving, whenever you want.
Or wait for the NTK next month, as long as you are the keeper (not a leased/hired car).
Then ignore them.
No IAS.
Come back if they try court, and the NEWBIES thread post #2 tells you how to find out how litigious any PPC is, with one Google search. PPS are not big players.
Complain to your MP and watch the MPs' debate, 2nd February, posted all over the forum!
No variables with IPC firms.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
