Egg/Canada Square Redress Sent To Old Address

My partner has recently re-opened his PPI journey with Egg after initially having been rejected in 2008. This morning he received a letter from Canada Square saying that he had been offered a redress in 2013. They have forwarded a copy of this redress letter, which states:
‘when your complaint was closed on 31st January 2008 you were issued a rejection letter. Following our review, you are now due a refund’
The thing is, he’d moved house between 2008 and 2013 and of course didn’t notify Egg of this, as he no longer had an account with them and as they’d closed his complaint (which is perfectly understandable surely?). Also, as this offer letter was sent over 5 years after the move, no mail redirection was active.
Surely he can push for this offer to be upheld considering the circumstances? Has anyone else had experience of this?

Hi,
I experienced that with Barclaycard and MBNA and both resent the cheque providing you can prove that you moved. I sent them a copy of my council tax bill. Get in touch with them and see what they say. And they can surely see as well that the cheque hasn't been banked and been probably cancelled eventually.0
