House buying + ground rent above £250

Ressurecting this old thread as I am in a similar situation now. Weighing up the pros & cons of a lease with a £245 ground rent that will likely go above the £250 threshhold at the next RPI linked review (8 years away), making it worth no more than your usual AST...

I viewed a flat at the weekend, I quite liked it and was considering making an offer but found out the current ground rent is £250 and of course the agent knows nothing about whether it will increase or not. The flat is empty so I couldn't ask the owner and I don't want to waste money on solicitors just to find this out.Why EA's don't understand the issues facing buyers is beyond me!0
