When making a Lloyds payment to another persons bank account,
the Sort code & Account number is needed,
what about the name? does this have to match the name of the persons bank account ? or it doesn't matter
the main thing are the Sort code and the Account number have to be right,
and the name you add can be anything ??
eg, sort code 111111
Acc number 22222222
Payee name: any word, as a ref to the payment

I just write the payees name whether that is an inividual or company etc.. Only for my own reference. It isn't necessarily the name on their account.
No doubt writing Mickey Mouse would make no difference as long as I knew who or what that name referred to.
It's the correct sort code and account number that matter fully.0 -
"Payee Name" can be anything you like.
I have things like:- Me at NatWest
- Me at HSBC
- Me at Nationwide
- Etc.

Me BOS 1234
Me BOS 2345
Me BOS 3456
Mum NWest 1234
Jim Sant 1234
etc etc. Something that identifies the recipient account in a manner that's meaningful for me.0 -
I just put an appropriate description in name field
e.g. Rev IM Jolly or Scottish Power.
I suggest something vaguely relevant in the name as it can be used (by the various banks) should if there is a problem with the payment.
The recipient usually only sees the reference field, so you need to be more precise with this if it's payment for a bill or something specific. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
