Binded copy of lease

Recently completed on new build property, leasehold.
I want a copy of my lease, a binded official version, as I was told to sign and return for my developers solicitors.
Apparently, my solicitor tells me, I cannot get a copy like this (exactly the same document) until the property has been registered with the Land Registry which has a current backlog of over 3 months.
Is this really the case? I just want a copy of my own lease for my records and peace of mind. Having to wait so long seems like extensive bureaucracy and inefficiency!

Why didn't you take a copy when you had it?0

I did. I've got a photocopied version of it. Not professional or sufficient for selling the property as I intend to do in 2-5 years time.
Just wanted some reassurance/confirmation that this delay is normal or if my solicitor is slacking0 -
Perfectly normal. You'll get all the original documents once the application for registering you as the owner has been dealt with at Land Registry and they send your solicitor the updated title deeds. This is when your file is officially completed and the solicitor can release all documents held during the transaction.0

As others have indicated once Land Registry formalities are dealt with, your solicitor should be able to account to you with the relevant deeds and other paperwork. Certain types of applications are taking longer to be dealt with by the Land Registry and if you speak to your solicitor, he or she should be able to check with the Land Registry to find out the anticipated completion timescale for your application.
As an aside as part of the registration process the Land Registry will scan all pertinent documents meaning "Official Copies" can be requested in the future and can be relied on if the original documents have been mislaid.0
