Hi
Please can someone give me some advice. I sent a letter to them regarding the package account and bank charges. I do not use the account now and haven't done for 5 or so years but I know I got charged for it. Subsequently they have just rang me to tell me that they do not have to look at old bank charges it was ruled in court. Is this the case or am I worth perusing this?
Thanks

Even recent bank charges are not recoverable unless you are currently in the bank's definition of Financial Hardship.
Certainly, historical charges will never be refunded to you because the Bank's won their court case over such charges in 2009. If you haven't used the account for five years, then you no longer have an active financial relationship with them.
That doesn't explain why your packaged account complaint was seemingly ignored, but perhaps you left the reasons they gave for that out of your post?0 -
I sent them two letters. One addressing bank charges and one addressing the packaged account. Whilst on the phone she just incorporated both complaints and said that they could not go back to past charges.
Would you suggest that I get them to look into the package account charges?0 -
You should be receiving formal rejection letters for both your complaints in the post.jenren1987! wrote: »Would you suggest that I get them to look into the package account charges?0 -

Yes, as they have failed to respond to your complaint that the packaged account wasn't needed.
You can go to the FOS either after a final response or if a bank fails to respond at all, but in this instance I'd try Santander one last time before escalating it to the FOS.Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0
