Heatwise / Economy 10 Tarrifs

  • We also have heatwise for the hot water and are struggling to swap suppliers for gas and electricity. I asked last year about swapping from british gas to eon (who supply the electric) for gas and they said they would not do this unless we also changed our electricity to a different rate. Is it as easy as this or do we need a new meter, if so do they charge for this?

    Hi,

The sad fact is that whilst the industry auditors make all Suppliers support registering all types of meter, Ofgem don't do the same to make them support it for billing.

Silly, but sadly true. Just another weakness of Ofgem's.

You need to look at E7 and decide whether it's cheaper or about the same as your heatwise. If not, you have to understand you will lose out and should try to find a Supplier that will take heatwise.

There will be some who will. So, work out if E7 is better, if not loo for Suppliers that will take E10.

I think consumers should start complaining about Suppliers refusing new business on these grounds.

Update on previous posts - Npower cannot support E10. Even though they have moved all of their residential customers into a system that will billit, they failed the create a tariff to bill on for E10.
