Manufacturer offering to 'inspect' product

I welcome your views on this retrospective issue that now has re-emerged - I brought an Allen & Heath professional DJ mixer in 2014 (£580) and it had a fault on it. The retailer (BopDJ) couldn't find it so sent it back to me suggesting it was due to cables and my home set up. I took this onboard spending out on additional cables and products and it wasn't until 2016 when my local DJ store looked at it they found the fault - a missing earth connection on the output and fixed it for me which I was very relieved to get it sorted. As I then struggled to get a new crossfader for the product last year (including emailing the manufacturer directly with no reply) overall I thought it had been a poor customer experience so I decided to share my story via a Trust Pilot review.

The store then got in contact with me saying both themselves and the manufacturer wanted to help. I explained it was retrospective review to help others and for the past 2 weeks they have been emailing me to clarify 'their position' although they are not taking any responsibility for their part . The manufacturer has offered to now 'inspect the unit' but have said it's outside of warranty and has been repaired by an unofficial store which voids their responsibility anyway (even though I reminded them of the SoAG regarding fit for purpose).

From my perspective I had no expectation when I wrote the review other than to let others know I had little confidence in the shop or the brand and instead they have defended all responsibility, had the review removed, offered no compensation and not even apologised, if anything wasted my time with continued email exchanges.

Do I take them up on their offer to inspect the unit? Is there any point given what they have already said? or just forget it and move on?

If you send the unit off for inspection what would you hope to gain from it? From what you write it doesn't sound as though the manufacturer is offering to do anything other than inspect it, which will not change the situation for you at all.

I wouldn't bother sending it back, it sounds like a load of hassle for nothing in return

And remember that the you have no SoGA rights against the manufacturer anyway, as you didn't buy from them.

Nothing in it for you to have it 'inspected'.

Did you buy it in a professional capacity (for use as a business venture?).

Mainly for home use (unless i got the big career break!), I wrote 'professional' to avoid using the brand name (now included) as I wasn't sure if the companies usually get mentioned in these posts
