debit card success!

Hi
Just thought I'd let you all know I finally had some success with getting a debit card from Nationwide. They rejected my original request a few months ago because of my credit rating.
I didn't get around to writing them a letter until last week. I basically pointed out that I'd been with them for over 15 years and had never been overdrawn. And all my wages were paid into their account. I sent the letter to the person who had rejected my original request, her boss, the general customer services manager and a person from Nationwide who had been quoted in the press a few times.
They called me two days later and originally said that my credit rating still meant there was nothing they could do - ie, 'computer says no' - and my branch would appeal on my behalf because my account behaviour was very good. Then got a call the next day saying my account had been upgraded. My card will arrive next week.
I'm only sharing this tale in detail because it might help anyone else who has been rejected. Appealing may help.

Glad you were successful but, jeez, what a carry on.
I asked the forum about this a couple of days ago as I was considering switching to Nationwide's current account. I can't understand what the big deal is about a debit card. Aren't they for accessing your own money? They don't give credit as such. I've not come across this with other current accountsand freely admit I'm bewildered.0 -
Congratulations! Persistency certainly does pay off. We all shouldn't just let a computer decide what we can and cannot have.0
