Energy Supplier and FIT

Options
Hi

I currently get Electricity only(we don't have gas) from NPower, we also have 4kw solar system and have our FIT with NPower.

Our contract is up for our energy supply and NPower's new tariffs are ridiculously expensive so I want to change Supplier.

My question is if I move my energy supply elsewhere can I still have my FIT with NPower?

A number of years ago I threatened to leave them and they said I would have to move my FIT to, I have examined their T&C's and can't find anything that states I have to have my electricity supply with them, the only T&C that comes close states "at the start of the Agreement You take Your electricity supply from Us unless You receive electricity from a supplier that does not make payments under a Feed in Tariff scheme or You’re not connected to the main electricity network;"

Help would be appreciated

Hi - welcome to the forum. Your supply and generation contracts are separate. You can switch your supply contract to A N Other, and NPower will continue to ask for a meter reading and pay your FIT.

    Hello Duty Officer

    Thank you for you post.

I've spoken to our Feed in Tariff Team this morning; they have confirmed you can keep your FiT tariff with npower and take your supply elsewhere if this is something you wish to pursue; although we'd be sad to see you go!

    I hope this helps.

    Beth :)

    Hi Beth

Thanks for the info, I would be more than happy to stay with NPower, but when the best rate on offer is 33.726p SC and 14.07p per KWh and we use between 500 & 800 KWh per month I have no option but to move when I can get 13.43p SC and 11.64p per KWh elsewhere.
