  • Depends what you want from your current account provider, Monzo are part of the new challenger banks, do a search on the site with Monzo and there is a big thread on them, the pros and cons of having this account and other useful bits.

Bit more information on exactly what your looking for will enable us to advise or point you in a different direction.

I’ve been with the Halifax for 20+ years when it was a maxim account...never really had any problems with them.

I am always a stickler for getting cash out of a machine in the branch, minimising any dodgey contraptions attached to machine....one of my parents had there accounts emptied by a Lebanese loop thingy.

  • Have been using Monzo's pre-paid service for a while and it has been great. They now issue current accounts, as do many other fintech banks such as Starling which is probably on par on many levels with Monzo.

Both seem very good with some great features which traditional banks don't offer. You won't get any cash incentives to join, but it is fully app based and both have no international spend fees on payments or withdrawals. Monzo has a £200 monthly limit on international withdrawals, Starling does not. Starling also pays interest on balances.

    Great for anyone who travels.
