Hudl SD Card

I have a Tesco hudl, which I sometimes use at work. I have another tablet, but the hudl is handy at 7", and has always been faithful. Recently, I couldn't read some files that were on the micro sd card I had in it. I thought I had another corrupt sd card. I took it out, and put it in another device, and it can read, without a problem. I've even re-set my Hudl to factory settings to see if that works, but no joy. Is there anything else I could try? Or will I need a new sd card slot (and how do I fit it)

The Hudl is 8 inch, and by the time you pay someone to fix it, you could buy a newer, faster tablet. So you're on your own.
1. Try another MicroSD card in it.
2. If you can, allow the Hudl to format the MicroSD card and start again with it. If not, format it with another device, then try it.
3. Let's get physical. Look closely into the slot for any dust or lint. Spray some air in just in case (buy a can of compressed air from Poundland etc.).
4. Factory reset the Hudl. Yes, it's extreme, it depends how desperate you are.
5. If you get this far, either put up with it, or take it apart. About all you can do is clean the contacts or sand them slightly to make sure there's a good contact, as well as closely inspecting the slot/contacts to check for damage or dirt.

I have two Hudl2's. One is 3 years old but was hardly used by an older, technophobe person who could simply "not get on with it". I bought it and have used it regularly. Before that, I bought 3x Hudl2's which were not working: 2 of those were the fault of uncaring owners who must have thrown them around. They had cracked screens, damaged cases and were absolutely filthy. The 3rd was suffering from a common Hudl and Hudl2 fault: blown internal charger ribbon cable and charger port, with a separate issue caused by the owner not updating the software. I stripped down all 3 tablets and saved as many parts as I could, for spares. Then I rebuilt the 3rd Hudl2 with good parts from the other two. It was given to a young family member 2 years ago, updated and is still working fine, due to being properly cared for.
I now have a working Hudl2 and plenty of spares, although there are spares still available, such as the chargers & leads, charger ribbon cables, which are all prone to failure. One of my neighbours left her Hudl1 on charge overnight and forgot about it for two days: port and ribbon cable both failed. I replaced them and it is still going.
The problem with the Hudl and Hudl2, is that they were sold by Tesco. Not that it was not a good product, but it was bought by many people who are tech-unsavvy, treated them as if they were a domestic product and failed to carry out updates. And Tesco did look after customers: all the Help files are still available from the Tesco website. I have downloaded and printed them all off.
I like my Hudl and I expect a decent life from it. Considering what I paid for it, it is very good.
I also fitted an SD card to both of mine, but have noticed that, whilst the Hudl2 can take a card up to 64 GB, (providing the Jan '15 update was done) it can baulk at some cards, notably SDHC cards. I only use a standard SD card in mine and I find a 32 GB works best.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.
