Reclaiming with the claims guys

Hi I have recently got involved with a PPI claim using the claims guys, I have in the past looked into claiming PPI with another firm a couple of years ago think it was Gladstone Brooks and one of the questions they asked was had I ever defaulted on the accounts and been in a DMP, all the accounts I was claiming on were defaulted and were passed onto debt recovery firms and I was in DMP with the consumer credit councilling service now step change I cleared all my debts with final settlement payments 6 year ago and now have a healthy credit rating a mortgage and a credit card for every day purchases that I pay off each month. Gladstone Brooks said I could not claim ppi as if I was successful my creditors could ask for the money back and I would still be left with the bill for the ppi claim. Claims guys have said the complete opposite so I went ahead and apparently I do have a claim on a number of my accounts for ppi. I have suddenly become nervous in going ahead as I don’t want my old creditors claiming back any potential payout and leaving me to pay off the fee with the claimed guys. Any advice please

If you didn't pay off every penny of the debt, the redress will be set against the debt.
But simply post the complaint yourself and avoid paying a fee at all.
Have you signed their contract yet?0 -
No all I have done is send off the forms with the lenders details and they have come back to say that one of the lenders may have ppi and they are sending out Lender questioner and if I’m to sign this then they will take that as instruction to proceed.0

Then put in your own complaint.
You don't need to pay them to buy the stamp for you.0 -

If you have defaults, arrears, amounts written off etc then you should never use a CMC. The reason is that the redress from a successful complaint is allowed to go against the unpaid debt. So, you dont get any money in your hands. However, the CMC will bill you their percentage against that amount. So, you actually end up having to find money to pay a bill.
GB gave you the correct response. The claims guys gave you the incorrect response. That does not suprise me. I was cold called by The Claims Guys and was lied to as well (I'm an IFA and I obviously do all my own insurances. They said I could still complain - although I never had PPI and any complaint would be sent to myself).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
