Am not sure how you've come by the cosmic charecter judgement from this post, I was looking for opinions really and at least you've found time to reply so thank you for your input.

No? Well, have a think about the language in this post, especially the highlighted words, and consider whether a touch of that has maybe leaked out on previous interviews....
I thought about that but then my contract has the standard catch all saying a reasonable amount of overtime. Pathetically I make excuses up to leave on time some days if I cant hack wasting an hour of my time unpaid listening to my peers try to justify why they didnt hit target the previous day.

How absurd is that - having to make up an excuse to leave work on time, not early but on time.

Have you asked the relevance of you attending the meeting?

Perhaps your employer feels you may have something useful to contribute, for example ideas to resolve issues occurring on the other shifts if your shifts are performing well.

If you're salaried, it's not unusual for some flexibility to be required in your work hours to suit business needs and it seems your contract has covered that.

The issue for me would be the necessity of attending, and I would ask about this as it's not clear. A polite 'Is there anything in particular you'd like me to contribute or learn from the meeting?' Is unlikely to cause offence, and might give you a better idea of why you're there. Certainly better than making excuses, which will be fairly transparent if done regularly.

    Put your hands up.

On the weeks you are starting at 2, are other managers staying after their shift. What are their thoughts on having to do this? It's often expected for management to stay after shifts when needed, and so long as everyone is expected to do the same there can't be any real complaint. I'm sure they can't force you to go or discipline you for not as its out of your shift, and as you are leaving it doesn't matter if it impacts career opportunities within the company.

The meetings should be moved to 13:45 with late shifters expected to start early, and target the length to 15 minutes. Surely they are daily handover meetings and need to be time managed to avoid 30 minutes of unimportant waffle about previous days events.
