B £250 Incentive not being paid!!!128547;

Options
I have finally got hold of someone in B today to enquire regards the whereabouts of my £250 incentive for switching accounts.

It appears that I had sent the initial £1k payment (qualification was 2 payments of £1k plus 31 days apart after 'opening') one day befire the actual switch happened.

As it was a new account I had assumed that the account became live once opened (admittedly I hadn't read the t&c's stating 'after the transfer') so am now somewhat angry (at both myself & B) that because I paid in the £1k one day too early (might even have been a couple of hours the night before!) I have lost the joining incentive (despite previous queries whereby I was advised I had met the criteria.

I am expecting 'You should've read the t&c's' as the obvious answer, but if there are any other terms or recourse as a possible alternative I'd gratefully receive any advice, as was 'banking' on this for some holiday money!!!!128526;

  • You're right - you didn't read the T's and C's and wait for the switch confirmation.

    Is there evidence of this? I would be looking that as a line to go down, to try and get money from them. If it was a phonecall, they'll have a recording of it. If an email, retrieve the email and be very sure of what it says before you go back to them.

    But yes, you should have read the T&Cs. The T&Cs are very hard rules on what you need to do, and must be adhered to. They're not just there to make sure you do what is required. They are also there so the banks protect themselves against losing their money, as you have found out.

    This will be your downfall. Especially when it comes to banks and switching bonuses.

    What? No recommendation to make a complaint?

    Are you feeling alright?

    That's not like you to let little things like terms and conditions get in your way.
