have you read post #5?PeacefulWaters wrote: »In fairness, my post is inaccurate for hand baggage only.
That said, BA do appear to keep those on a single booking together when they allocate seats.
I take your points. Maybe I've used easyJet too often recently. I like to choose where I sit and don't mind paying a fiver for the convenience. I have flights booked for June and the seats booked since October.
When I last flew with BA you booked with a travel agent and seats were allocated as part of the booking!0 -
No, I agree. What I objected to was having our bags put into the hold despite being some of the first to board. It was clear that they were singling out UK passport holders for this which was outrageous. We were on a late flight so didn't want to be hanging around waiting for bags when we had a hotel to get to. At least Ryanair let the early arrivals to take bags into the cabin, something like the first 90.They can't just magically conjure up overhead locker space. On full flights, it's almost a given that not everyone will get to bring their bags on board. It has nothing to do with the airline, it's simply a question of what will physically fit onboard.
Of course, you can argue that their carry-on allowance is too generous or that it should be policed better but that's another issue.
There are other issues too. Now that the free bar has been stopped, they seem quite happy to sell liquor to passengers who are drunk and unruly. I was told it was policy as they had targets to meet. The difference between our last BA experience and many previous ones was really alarming.:(:dance:We're gonna be alright, dancin' on a Saturday night:dance:0 -
Well, that is exactly what they were doing at the departure gate. Those with UK passports were having to give up their bags to go in the hold, while other nationalities were being allowed to board with their bags. This was at Heathrow. I did make a written complaint but, predictably, it was ignored.Seriously ?? You're suggesting BA is racist ?:dance:We're gonna be alright, dancin' on a Saturday night:dance:0 -

not any more...you need to pay for priority boarding if you want to have your main hand luggage in the cabin (the 10kg one) ...if you don't it will be taken from you and put in the hold to be collected of the belt at the other end0 -

I wonder if they were taking an easy way out for staff at the gate. The chances are that those with British passports were English speaking so saved them the hassle of having to try to explain to those of other nationalities who expected to take their hand luggage on board.
I sometimes wonder if they policed the overhead lockers a bit better there would be more room. Many bags are laid down flat whereas it they were stood upright on their side (not explaining this very well am I!:o) there would be more room.0 -
If everyone kept within their contracted limits there wouldn't be any problems with carry-on stuff. My small backpack easily fits under the seat in front of me.0
