Hi, bought Minecraft download from Amazon for PC, and son says it's not the same as his friends. Apparently he wants version 1.9.1. If I've purchased the latest Minecraft, should I be able to download any version I like and how do I get version 1.9.1 anyway? Also if I have bought the latest version, should it not have everything - including the 1.9.1 ? Can you tell I'm confused? lol!

1.9.1 is two years old and is certainly not the latest version, which appears to be 1.12.2. Which version do you actually have?0

Thanks, I have no idea how to find out the version. Bought this one

It'll probably be a little hard for you but you can get old versions here:
https://mcversions.net/
So apparently some people prefer older versions too. But it's never easy to use them as the launcher will lalways want to check for updates. (it would be easier for his friend to update)0 -
Thanks. Does this mean the latest version should automatically have all the update versions listed ?0

No, the latest version is always going to be the latest version.
Using a non latest version is discouraged by the publisher and they make it hard as they don;t want to have to support multiple versions.
The main concern is why this friend wants to use an outdated version. It is not usual.
You can probably find insructions on how to use the files on the page i linked and stop updates occuring somewhere on the net. But it is not going to be simple unless you are great with computers.0 -
Could it just be that his friend hasn't downloaded the latest update if that's what you are allowed to do?0

Not being funny, but do any of you actually play minecraft? you can set a run config to allow you to play any version of the game you want. yes as default it will load the latest, but you dont have to use that one - a lot of people use earlier versions due to game mods, servers and skins.
and sorry Carrot, but you are incorrect - the page I have linked to below is from Mojang themselves to show you how to do it. And it is really common in minecraft due to the reasons I have stated above. My son plays and he uses different configs depending on which mods he wants to use.
