New kitchen - howdens...how do I know...?

Hello... hoping to get some help!
We had been looking at new kitchens...We've got a local builder who has introduced us to Howdens for a kitchen quote, we went for the Handleless Clerkenwell range.. aproximate 13-15 units.
We received an estimate and I am not sure we had any discount applied..
I have seen other Howdens estimates and they have a column with the % of discount applied.. my estimate doesn't have that info . How do I know If I am paying the full price?
Many thanks...

You won!!!8217;t be paying the full price. The full price is so obscene it would rival high end bespoke kitchens.
A Howdens estimate does usually have the discounts down the side though.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

that is why I am a bit puzzled... mine doesn't have the discount on the side..
Ashamed I can't post a picture to show you...
Total price for 13 units + cheapest worktop & their appliances = £68000 -
Don!!!8217;t buy their appliances. You!!!8217;ll definitely get better value and choice elsewhere.
Clerkenwell is one of their more expensive ranges iirc.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Check out DIY Kitchens. I just ordered a matt white handleless kitchen from them and its being delivered next month. 23 units including expensive pull out larder, corner le mans larder etc and came to £5200. Reviews seem glowing so Im fairly confident it'll be fine. You can email them your howdens quote and they will assemble your shopping basket to give you the total price.
As said above don't buy Howdens appliances. Much better items on AO etc for less money.0 -
You're getting a customer copy, they can produce estimates for both builder and customer.
The discounts are a nonsense anyway and should be outlawed. They are never sold at the full RRP so how they get away with it is anyone's guess.0 -
As said, the invoice you have is a customer copy. This may mean the builder has added a mark-up onto the quote he has received - sadly, you'll never know.
Any full kitchen purchase from Howdens should aim for 75 - 80% discount, IME.
Just to give you an example of how the discount works in practice - say a kitchen unit has a RRP of £400:
At 70% discount, it's £120
At 80% discount, it's £80
Don't let the seemingly small increase in discount fool you - the above shows that a 10% reduction in discount on the RRP, results in a 50% increase in price.0 -

It seems their appliances have terrible reviews ...I am keeping away from them!0 -

Be careful if you adopt this route. By going to Howdens if pieces are missing, or the drawing is wrong, or the schedule has errors then your builder will be sorting matters.
You would be most unwise to send the Howdens details to diy without checking that everything is correct. Otherwise diy will be replicating Howdens errors, and the responsibility here bounces back to you.0 -
I have also just got a Howdens quote, it is £2200 for a larder cupboard with 3 internal doors, 4 wall cabinets with Clerkenwell gloss doors, a 1000 sink cabinet, worktop, a sink and a tap. There is no mention of a discount on my quote though.
The equivalent is £982 at IKEA.
Will Howdens negotiate? I am tempted to contact the builder and see if he can get it reduced, either by reducing his markup or getting Howdens to reduce theirs.
