Hi
It looks like the PSU has failed on my old Gladiator PC. I tried a different power cable, tested the surge protector extension, etc, but nothing happening.
The PSU that comes with it is an ATX-500B, I have looked around and they are sold on ebay for around £20.
Am I best to buy a direct replacement or is there something better for just a little more money.
Any advice appreciated as I'm a bit in the dark with this.
TIA

That power supply was a cheap piece of junk.
Get a decent one like this::

Yes they cost more money but its a decent name, its quieter and it comes with longer warranty. Power supplies you get what you pay for, a lot of the cheaper ones don't have any protection when they fail and are known to take the entire board out with them.0 -
are you 100% sure its the psu? have you got another you could swap? i have never done it but there are youtube videos on running psu outside of pc, that might me a way to test.
what psu you buy depends on how long you are keeping the pc and whether you will upgrade parts of the pc in the future.
do your research and find a quiet psu. i always like to use modular as most of the cables you get with a psu aren't used. just keeps it tidy."The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

Agreed, a good PSU is one of the most essential, overlooked pieces of hardware.....
Good Link and a good price..0
