  • I have a newish one, bought for me by DS . It is a quite heavy Tefal one and really good.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
  • Going to JL in Bluewater later today to have a look at the circulon ones and see how heavy they are ashy right arm isn't good for lifting things so I will have a shufti then come home and look online for the best price I can find ,depending on which one I decide to buy
  • Thanks for starting this thread JackieO. I’m also looking to replace ours in the next month or so. OH keeps putting our main one in the dishwasher out of laziness and it’s losing its non-stickiness. It’s also from IKEA. I think with better care it would last another couple years but I don’t trust that with OH. *eyeroll*
  • TK Maxx have a really good selection of frying pans - including Tefal - at good prices.
    Normal people worry me.

I have the small version of this:
    https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-the-basics-induction-frying-pan/p2525251
I've had it for quite a few years, it's in use at least 4 times a week, and it's only now starting to show signs of wear.
I like it because it's light enough for me to cope with, even with my arthritic hands and shockingly weak wrists.
    HTH. :o

ETA: Jings Have you considered bashing OH over the head with the frying pan next time he puts it in the DW? :rotfl:

I'm perfectly happy with my Tefal one with the red spot. I use it several times a week and wash it in the dishwasher.

I think what keeps frying pans in general in good condition is the type of utensil you use with them. A nylon fish slice costs just a couple of pounds but it really prolongs the life of the frying pan

I don't want to go into the full whys and wherefores .... but I've a vast collection of the Red Dots :) Well, three to be precise.

I first bought one about 30 years ago - nothing stuck .... except it was something I abandoned when moving house and putting everything into storage and only keeping things I "really needed".

So, with that "they're good" knowledge, I bought another - which then went into storage when I packed up my goods .... so I needed a second one and bought two (one as a gift to my parents, who needed one as theirs was dire).... so then I had two .... and then I inherited my parents' one. So I now have three....

Of course.... those who know me know I can't use a hob, but they're tucked away for some mythical future date when I have/can use a hob.

I have never, ever, had anything stick in a Red Dot.... but some people just cook badly (too high a heat most often and carelessly/without watching)... so they can stick food to anything.

I have never, ever used a metal utensil in any non-stick pan, after seeing what my mum did to their first non stick pan in the 1980s.... I could never get her to understand that you don't use metal on non-stick.
  • well I had a good look around in JL plus even went to Lakeland as well and came home without one and am still having a ponder.I must admit the circulon one is looking the one I would really like and its got a 10 year guarantee,(wish I could have one of those :):):)) I shall have a think and see if I can persuade myself that I can justify spending such a lot of cash in one lump :) will weigh up the pros and cons. Islandmaid it really does look very nice :):)

Jackie just remember the choice you make will influence a lot of us OS readers ;) (no pressure then!!) I bought mine from Amazon, they have a good returns policy if it’s not for you.

I noticed Dunelm have started selling Circulon too, but quite pricey in comparison
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    £300/£130

Funny you said that. I was in Dunelm at the weekend, saw the pans, remembered this thread and thought "how much?"

I thought they were seriously expensive in there
