Hidden gadget insurance

Hi my first posting, would appreciate any help.

I purchase an iPAD in 2013, from Currys PC World, and without knowing also purchased an extended warranty for the device of £6.50 per month which was taken as a direct debit from 26/6/2013.

At the time of purchase I do not recall being told about this warranty and only cancelled it 16/1/2018.
i.e. 54 months @ £6.50 per month = £351.

I have never received any reminders that I was still paying for this warranty for over 4.5 years.

I sent them an email 16/1/2018, telling them of my disappointment that they allowed this to happen and requested a prompt and satisfactory resolution. They replied very quickly, only confirming that the insurance had been cancelled.

It goes without saying I would like a full refund, but would settle for 3.5 year refund if any.

So why did you not, upon checking your bank statements in 2013, raise the issue with Currys?

Almost five years on, your lack of memory will be trumped by the documentation you will have signed and received a copy of. If you didn't agree to this extended warranty, why didn't you cancel the Direct Debit you instructed the Bank to pay?

The question is rhetorical. Obviously, you don't check your statements regularly enough and you've forgotten signing up for this extended warranty. Curry's are not legally required to send you "reminders" and they don't need to if the money is paid via Direct Debit.

The only way you would be entitled to any refund would be if you had not actually enjoyed any extended warranty. Clearly, you did have the extended warranty until you cancelled it in January.

Do you still have the iPad? If not and you can prove it, Curry's may give you a goodwill refund from the date when it left your possession. I wouldn't count on it, though...

No-one purchases a arranty they aren't told about. Your eye was on the shiny new Ipad, not on what you'd have to pay.
You let a DD go out of your account for 4 years without checking what it was
The only way you were screwed is that you failed to pay attention [and are now not even taking responsiblity for) what you spend your money on.
