I've also made 'cheat' samosas with filo pastry filled with chickpea and potato curry, with mango chutney and HM raita.
Oooh, - I like the sound of those, opens a whole world of possibilities.

£2.45 spent, cucumber, 6pk of crisps (my weakness) and some peanut butter. Really need to meal-plan, as I don't want to go to shops 'till Thursday/Friday. Have updated sig.
  • Hi folks. Checking in after part of the weekend away. Thursday, Friday and Saturday were NSDs. The city where we were had an M & S Food in the train station so I bought some things to partially alleviate the haul back from the UK. But really, who am I kidding? I’ll probably just buy the same intended amount in the UK anyway. :D

€20.03 for 2x cheddar, haggis, a box of oatcakes, and 2x scones for OH.

My freezer is stuffed so I'll eat it down before I put the cheddar and haggis in there to keep. We’re going to the UK on the 20th so I’ll eat from the freezer the next week to relieve some storage space for when we return. I’ll probably just get some berries tomorrow to supplement my food the next few days. We have veg, yoghurt, and tons of proteins.

    Totals So Far:
    €117.77 / €400.00
    8/10 NSD
    £0/£150 UK stock up

£1.51 at the chemists on cough sweets, £11.73 at Waitrose, £3.84 At Co-op, and £23.31 at Iceland over the last week - mostly on food (except £2.00 on household cleaning at Iceland) - but with £2.00 voucher off Iceland, £2.85 cashback from Green Jinn and £1.40 cashback from a try for free deal on Laughing Cow cheese - so my running total is £71.43 on food, £10.00 on household cleaning, £5.76 on toiletries = £87.19 overall groceries.

Love the sound of those samosa's too. We made them from scratch once, delicious but exhausting. These sound very promising.

After a chunky spend today £33 something), my total for March now stands at £59.25, with two Sundays left. Around £20 is fine, as long as I buy cheaper fruits. Today we bought a lot of fairly expensive fruits, as the children wanted a change in their lunch boxes and fancied fruit salads for the week. Mangoes aren't cheap, but they're so good!!

Gave 8/9 stockpile items to church today for the foodbank, so ever so slightly less to store!

I have lunches sorted (from leftovers) for Monday and Tuesday. After that, I may make a pasta bake, or something else to keep using stuff up.

My children have really treated me today. They made me brunch of bacon, eggs and tomatoes, and spag bol for dinner. Obviously I supervised!

I'd vote for a quiche as well. I've also made 'cheat' samosas with filo pastry filled with chickpea and potato curry, with mango chutney and HM raita they went down very well! You cut the filo sheets in half lengthways and fold over the filling to make a sort of triangular shape. Can't remember where I got that recipe/idea, may have been Thrifty Lesley?

Wysiwyg49 did you brush the top with egg or anything like that? Thanks for this nice idea.

I spent £17.13 in Aldi today on a few things I really needed - onions, butter, butter beans, tomatoes, cereal and some things that weren't essential - felafels, quorn chunks, chocolate bunnies and halloumi. I'm doing so well this month so far a few things to make things quick and easy seemed allowable.

We've got some friends coming to visit at the weekend so I'll be spending a chunk of the budget on getting stuff for a roast dinner later in the week. I should be able to cover other meals from what we already have in so I'm still well on track.

Approved Food sent me a free delivery code today but I resisted (first time ever I think). I need to get through all the stuff I've already stockpiled first!

I completed a new meal plan at the weekend and shopped on Sunday for the first half of the week. Shouldn!!!8217;t need to go shopping again until Weds.

I!!!8217;m struggling to get my head round the cost of meals - joining the challenge has really brought home the increased cost of groceries :( Hopefully the veggie/vegan meals I!!!8217;ve planned in later in the week will reduce costs a little.

I've been bedbound for the week which does wonders for reducing the grocery bill, lol, although did increase the chippy bill a little while the family had to fend for themselves for a few nights but wasn't that bad in the end. Not sure when I last updated but will just go from here with where I am now.
