Seems silly that you are not willing to sacrifice your principles of paying a standing charge to sacrifice your principles of true green energy and pay more into the bargain.

Some further points. One, green energy wholesale purchase does not equate to green energy through your pipes. Two, nuclear energy is treated as green energy.

The above begs the question is the OP after green energy or energy from renewable sources? The latter excludes nuclear power.

What makes you think no standing charge is a matter of principle? I simply am a very (very) low user and trying to save some money (may I remind you this website is called Money Saving Expert)

Did you really think I was hoping to get flower petals in my pipes? :rotfl:

That's simply not true. Nuclear power is not considered green by a lot of providers. In any case all providers are required to publish their fuel mix (OFGEM regulations) to the general public. Ecotricity, Good Energy and Ovo Energy are just a few examples of providers who don't use nuclear power. At all.

A standing charge is a red herring, all that matters is your overall annual cost. The cheapest is still the cheapest with or without a standing charge.

Put your annual consumption into CEC, click the "green" box and see what what comes out. Do it again at + 15% use and again at -25% use and see if it changes supplier.
