Old Style Daily Monday 19th February 2018

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning All

Thanks for starting us off Holly hope you've had a better nights sleep.

I had a lovely weekend in Carlisle, lovely little city but a bit lively at night along from where we were staying. It didn't affect us but there was a big police presence. Went to the cinema to see The Greatest Showman and really enjoyed it. Lots of catching up done and even more walking.

Back to reality now, a full week at work after half term last week. So much to do and so little time!

Hope everyone's well, have a happy Monday. Take care. XX

Morning everyone

Welcome flubberyzing.

csarina like you I love shoulder of lamb, it is one of my favourite meats, you deserved your glass of pinot I'm glad that you enjoyed it.

Nannywindow I hope that you are feeling a bit better today, these viruses seem to really be lingering.

I did decide on which book to start reading and have been reading since I woke up at 4.00am. I tried staying in bed today in the hope that I would doze back off, but it was not to be. I wish I could stop worrying about things and then I might sleep a bit better.

Yesterday was really nice. I had a lovely time with my family and the food went down really well. It was all bits and pieces that my brother had asked for. I sent them home with lots of left overs that he and my niece will be able to use up for their work lunches this week.

Today I have some washing to do and want to try and get out for a walk again. I do like going out for a walk and that is something I am looking forward to doing more when the better weather arrives.

No shopping needed today so at least I don’t need to worry about shops. My house insurance renewal is due shortly so I want to spend some time seeing if I can get a better quote than from the existing insurers. Other than that, there is nothing pressing.

Hugs to those who are poorly or worrying about those who are, and who have worries/problems at the moment.

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.
• Good morning and thank you for starting the thread Hollyharvey.

Been up since 4.30 but I went to bed quite early again so have had some decent sleep. Day off today!

OH will be taking the car for a service when he gets up. It has pretty low mileage but is an old model so if it needs parts, it tends to take several days so probably no lifts to the bus stop this week.

I now have a relatively tidy house, at least tidy for us, not much washing in the basket, not a full load and can please myself about what I do today. At present most, though not all, of our meals are things that DS doesn't enjoy so we are having them while he is away. I do quite often have a modified meal anyway as am not much of a meat eater, and am quite put off by seeing a large lump of meat. No idea what to make tonight though. I'll perhaps get inspired later.

Hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone :hello:

It's still dark out so I don't know what the weather is doing but it feels very mild. I have just waved goodbye to Steve and am sat here with my cup of tea.

Becky has the orthodontist this morning and she wants me to go with her so I have had a shower and got dressed. I will get her up in an hour or so so she has a chance to get washed too. We had a bit of a falling out yesterday due to her not having washed any of her clothes since leaving hospital. I know she is depressed but it has an impact on the whole family when the smell from her washing pile starts to take over the upstairs. Anyway, after a lot of tears and shouting she brought down a basket of washing so at least she has some clean school uniform for this week.

Bobby is laid on my toes keeping them warm. We are off to the vets tonight so I hope the bill won't be horrendous. I couldn't see him in pain though so it is a necessary expense. It is a bit too far for me to walk there so it will have to be taxis again.

First of three loads of washing is currently twirling around the machine so hopefully that will finish before I have to go out with Becky. I also want to prep tea in a minute as the grandchildren are coming here in an hours time as Jemima is working an early shift this morning. I have some diced beef out defrosting so I think some form of casserole is going to happen.

Glad you had a lovely weekend camelot, it's always nice to catch up with friends.
Thank you for starting us off Holly, I really hope you get some better quality sleep soon, you must be exhausted x

I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
• Good morning everyone and thanks for kick starting the day H/Harvey. Well back to normality and the schools are back this morning.
I am still a bit cross, yesterday late afternoon there was a loud knock on my front window so as I went to open the door (I had to find my door key for the outside door) there was a loud knocking on the door as well.I eventually opened the door and a complete stranger with a yappy dog in tow was on my door step
Her " Have you my parcel" ?
Me " No ,what parcel"
Her "Amazon put a card through the door saying its been left here"
Me No I haven't taken a delivery in"
Her " you must have as you are number 57 aren't you ? "
Me "Yes I am, and no I haven't taken a parcel in"
Her suspiciously "Are you sure ?" peering into my porch
Me "I am quite sure if I had I would give it to you",have you asked at other houses ?"
Her "No its definitely you number on the card "
Me " well I am absolutely sure and I don't lie " By this time I was getting a bit cross as I don't like being glared and shouted at.
Me "where abouts do you live ?"
Her " across the road of course "
I have lived in my house since 1995 and never have clapped eyes on this loud and very rude woman
I said "Sorry I haven't got it so you'll have to try elsewhere"
Her, stamping down the path "Well I'm getting onto Amazon, and you better not be lying " !!!!
I couldn't believe the cheek of it ,not only bashing my knocker but calling my a liar as well !!! When I got to Dds last night for dinner she said Don't worry mum they possibly put the wrong number on the card .I was fuming though. For a start, she never once said please, or was polite , in fact she was rather aggressive and I haven't got her blooming parcel and don't like being called a liar on my own doorstep Grrr I shall have a word with my next door neighbour and see if she has seen any delivery people at all. My road is quite wide and I know most of the folk on my side of the road but only one or two on the other side, but I had never seen this objectionable woman at all before. How can people be so rude !!!
Rant over :) I shall return to being a sweet cheery old lady again :):):)

Pottering morning this morning with a bit of catch-up hoovering and tidying. I did a machine load last night so hopefully it will get a bit of a blow on the line this morning, nothing that needs ironing thank goodness mainly towels and a dressing gown.
Hope you all have a good day what ever you are doing, fingers crossed for another nice day today, it was gorgeous yesterday in Kent

Cheers chums

P.S. welcome to flubberyzing hope you enjoy the craic on here :)

Morning everyone

Hollyharvey - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dark, damp and cold start here today.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly as he has college today.

Lunch yesterday was duck, mash, roasties, carrots, HG sprouting broc, peas, yorkshires and red wine gravy - clean plates all round. Tonight will be fish, jacket potato, beans/veg.

DH and I had a ride to the retail outlet in the next town first thing yesterday morning as our clock in the dining room has finally given up the ghost. Dad has been having a major clear out since mum's stroke and has found a couple of wall clocks that are not in use, we have 1 of those but DH still wanted a ride out, I didn't find anything I liked more so no spends there.

Back to work this morning, hoping for a busy day, we'll see.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning everyone.

It’s very grey, misty abd damp looking outside. Drizzle is much worse than proper rain.

I slept well and woke just as I was dreaming about a litter of 12 dogs, not sure if they were English Sheepdogs or fluffy Bulldogs.

Today I’m teaching for two hours and then heading up to just past Oban to meet a colleague. It’s a fair way away but she’s helping me, it’s her day off and she’s got her children to collect at 3pm.

I hope that everyone has a good and happy Monday.
• Morning folks and thanks HOLLY for starting the daily off. I too have been up since silly o'clock (again!) but I spent some time "shopping" on Whistlefish for birthday cards for the year. They are lovely cards and at 10 for £8 you can't go wrong. I have ordered 20 so they will keep me going for a bit!

It feels mild again (forecasting 8 deg!) but not as bright and sunny as yesterday the nice man says.

We need to call at the kitchen showroom today to drop off a deposit on all the cupboards etc before they can order them. Some are to be specially made to size so they don't want us cancelling our order! No chance of that I can't wait until early April - in fact I want my new kitchen NOW!

I have reserved a few items at Argos so need to pick those up whilst out and about. I chose collection at the outlet at Sainsbobs, rather than the store in town as it's easier for parking. I'll be killing two birds with one stone as I also have some owing tablets to collect at Sainsbob's pharmacy. Will keep my eyes averted from the grocery aisles as there is nothing I need to buy there!

Mr TA was no better yesterday (still a day of soups only) so if he is the same today I am going to ring St James up and see if he can see one of the doctors when we go for his Oncology injection on Thursday. It's worrying as this discomfort usually passes off within a day or two.

No meal plans yet again will see if Mr TA feels up to eating first. I am happy just to get myself some fish out of the freezer.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for all in need/want of them. JACKIE I hope you avoid the obnoxious woman today. There is absolutely no need to speak to someone like that. Take care all xx

Morning :hello:

The cold which I had before Christmas (and never really went away properly) came back and knocked me sideways. I haven't really done much except for bits of housework, some crochet and sow tomato seeds.

The earthquake was felt here, but not by me – weird, as miss tru was directly above me in her bedroom and she felt it! I was in the lounge crocheting while watching telly so I suppose I was distracted. I had a moment where I thought something felt wrong, so I glanced out of the windows, there was nothing there so I carried on with what I was doing. Harry was running around his tank which is odd because he usually sleeps all day. It wasn't until miss tru came down and asked me what had happened that I realised something had happened, lol. Scampi was on edge for the rest of the day so it must've unsettled him too.

I have some work to do this morning then I need to order more yarn for my new blanket. I still can't do anything with the spare room at the moment so for now I've decided to get on with making things to go in it. While I wait for the yarn to arrive I'm going to print some dotty paper for covering coffee tins – I have to have matching pen pots :D

Morning all

Seems a bit milder here today, yesterday afternoon was glorious and we took little madam out for a lovely long walk, we had burger in a bun for dinner with a few chips the pork fillets have been bumped till tonight.

Washing to do tonight which will have to go in the TD and we need to have a quick tidy round.

I was looking at holidays last night, there is a Greek man at work who has been talking to me about Greek Islands and which ones are best, he has written four down for me and I was trying to work out how to get to one in particular that we fancy, I think I have worked it out so I have requested the time off, hopefully I will get it and can book the holiday tonight :j

Right I had better get on have good days all xx
