How long have I held my driving licence?

Options
Just a quick one - I've had a full motorbike licence for 18 months, and passed my car driving test 4 months ago.

For car insurance purposes, have I held my licence for 18 months, or only 4?

Thanks!

Whatever is relevant, if you are taking out car insurance full licence held 4 months,
motorbike insurance full licence held 18 months

    States in OP "car insurance".

I would have thought this was pretty specific.

It isn't though, that's the OP asking! What are the insurance co's asking? That's why I underlined exactly.

  • Yeah the insurers only ask how long you've had your licence, which is why I thought I might be able to get away with it!

You will only get away with it until you have an accident and the insurance company need to see your driving licence

So how long have you had a full driving licence? Forget the category of vehicle, just answer the question they asked!

Alternatively - ring them and ask? It's not a quiz, they know what they are asking for even if it's not clear to the OP. They may actually accept the 18 months as it potentially shows you have experienced of being on the roads.
