for some reason i cannot log into the new microsoft live, it wont accept my password. it also meant i could not log on to ebay. this all happened after my son had rebooted it because the whole system had just froze and we were told we should get rid of our present security system. which we did but like i said i cant access msn now. after few days hoping it would sort itself son used disc to wipe off everything and startd again. i was then able to go on everything with no problem, then i logged off and shut down and when i went back on i was in same position and could not go on msn live again or log on to ebay. cookies are ok and date and time is ok so what am i doing wrong?

It sounds like your security settings, check your firewall and anti-virus settings.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I would advise you to ask your Son, exactly what he did! Then come and report back to this site as it sounds like he's managed to corrupt something. Or you installed something or did something that corrupted your msn installation and lost your passwords.
Ask him what disk he used, as if it was a Windows disk then he'd probably have used the 'rescue' option of the disk, but without asking him it would be difficult to know for sure.
There's some hotmail\msn password retreival tools listed here: http://hotmail-password-recovery.qarchive.org/downloads.html as for whether they work, or what they do with the passwords once retrieved is anyones guess. Good job you took the time to write them all down in your diary or similar eh?
What was your old 'security system' that you removed, and how did your son remove it?
Do you have the option of Start\Programs\Accessories\System Tools - System Restore? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084 http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/getstarted/ballew_03may19.mspx look for 'Restoring a system' http://technet.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/bb490854.aspx#ECAA
In short, you need to provide more details of your situation than you have already.
HTHIt could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.0 -
Unhappy with Windows Live? Why not make the roll back to Msn Messenger 7.0. :TInstigated terrorism the road to dictatorship.0
