Meriva Heating Problems

Hi folks,
Just looking for a little bit of advice.
I have a 2011 plate Vauxhall Meriva, and just recently I have noticed that the engine seems to reach 90 degrees on the temperature gauge quicker than usual and sometimes goes above 90 and the fan starts to kick in. This happens after say 15-20 mins of driving
I have also noticed (and I’m assuming the 2 are linked), but the heaters seem to be taking an age to blow out any hot air. !!!129335;!!!8205;!!!9794;!!!65039;
I have done a quick google search and the issues range from thermostat problems, coolant levels, and a knackered engine.
Can anyone give me some advice. TIA.

Well you have 2 opposites. Its heating up quickly but the heaters take ages to warm up.
Most likely candidate (and generally cheapest) is a sticking thermostat.
i assume you have checked the coolant levels?
Has the car had any work completed lately?
Depending on the thermostat circuit, it could mean the thermostat isnt opening quickly enough and preventing cooling/hot coolant hitting the heater circuit pipes.0 -

Check the coolant level when the car is cold.
If its at the correct level, chances are as Custardy said, its thermostat.
If its below normal, then you've either a leak or cylinder head gasket problems. The interior heater taking so long to heat up suggests (under those circumstances) its airlocked / partially airlocked.0 -
Probably a faulty thermostat if the coolant level is ok..has the cooling system ever been flushed and the coolant replaced0

If the previous suggestions are not valid, have a feel of the carpet directly beneath the centre of the dash and console. That is where the heater matrix lies, further back under the dash. If the carpet is damp, there may be a fault in the matrix, which is basically a small radiator. It can get blocked and leak.
It is a horrible job to replace it, as I have discovered in the past, trying to get my head and hands under the dash.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

could also be the impellar has come off back of water pump and the water isnt circulating0

Had to replace the engine because of an overheating problem? Or did the original cook? That's an expensive solution to what you describe as a reprogramming issue.
It might help someone though, even after nearly two years has passed since the last post.0
